Dark Glass Ponderings

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. -1 Corinthians 13:12

Title: A Passion Redeemed

Series: Daughters of Boston #2

Author: Julie Lessman

Publication Date: 2008

My rating: 4.5/5

I wasn't sure I would want to read a book where Charity was the heroine after the devastation Charity's actions caused in A Passion Most Pure.  I fluctuated when it came to the final rating a bit because I found my opinion fluctuated throughout this book.

I was pleased with the work happening in Charity's heart throughout the book.  It was sad to see what Charity had to go through to experience brokenness before God.  Julie deals with some delicate issues here in a powerful way.  I think such issues as rape and physical abuse need to be dealt with more in the Christian market, as the church is not immune to these sins.

Many of the plot twists were quite surprising to me in this book. I read this book in just a few days and it really kept my attention.

I had a bit of trouble with the ending.  I felt quite sorry for Kathleen in the end, even though I suppose she had her happy ending.  I wanted to know she had a "passionate" happy ending.  One thing Julie seems to do at the end of each book is set you up for the next story.  I loved Brady and so was disappointed for him although after reading book #3 my feelings have changed, of course.  It almost seemed as though Charity shared more spiritual intimacy with Brady than with Mitch by the end of the book.  I'm glad I read the whole series at once because it changed some of my perspective as I read book #3.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed book #2.  Although it was not my favorite in the series, I would read any of these books again (which is unusual for me).
